Royal Cavalry to begin World Equestrian campaign today

New York, Sept 11 - The Royal Cavalry will commence their World Equestrian Games campaign on Wednesday in the United States. The World Equestrian Games is being held in Tryon town at North Carolina, USA, from September 11 to 23. As many as 124 horses representing 40 different countries will compete in different categories for the top honours. “The Royal Cavalry team is ready to be one of the tough competitors at the World Equestrian Games. We will participate by a team of four riders and 1 reserve, based on the rules of the FEI, the organising body of the event,” Brigadier-General Abdulrazak Abdulqader al Shahwarzi, commander of Royal Cavalry, said.


He added that the Royal Cavalry’s endurance team competed in many international races and secured advanced position in various races. He affirmed that the Royal Cavalry provided all the facilities and required training to riders and it is their time to prove themselves with good results for the Sultanate. The world endurance competitions will take part in Tryon town centre in North Carolina. The place is prepared ready for riders and their horses. A large area is specialised for spectators to attend and support their teams at the competitions.


“ All our riders in a very high spirits to achieve top results and claimed best positions. They had good results in the past and the World Equestrian Games will see strong competition as all are prepared, and we hope to claim top positions,” First Lieutenant Nasser al Hussaini, officer of the section of endurance race at Royal Cavalry, said. “Royal Cavalry team had several international tournaments and I hope from all our riders to implement all trained plans. Also, they have to take care of horses and their safety specially in the first round. We hope to get good position in the championship,” Roman Laporte, the trainer, said.


Oman team


The team’s technical apparatus selected four riders of the list of riders qualified for the championship to represent Oman, who are: Mahmoud al Foori on mare Dallilah, Hisham al Farsi on mare Ondia, Saleh al Balushi on stallion Rice and Hussain al Farsi on stallion Rafal de Career. The reserve is Adil al Balushi on mare Tuscan. This selection was based on accurate supervision and results achieved in various international competitions.
