Royal Cavalry show jumping contest begins

BARKA:  The Fourth Show Jumping competitions for the season 2016-2017 was launched at the racecourse of Al Rahba Farm in the Wilayat of Barka. The competitions are organised by Oman Equestrian Federation amid wide participation of government cavalry units and private stables.

The races witnessed tough competition among the 58 horses that were divided into four categories, namely junior category, d, c and b.


Horse rider Hamoud bin Sultan al Touqi, riding “Pele” from the Olympic Equestrian Centre won first place in the category b.


Horse rider Mazin bin Said al Yousfi, riding ‘Raghad’ of Al Said Stables achieved the title of category c.


Horse rider Khalid bin Darwish bin al Subhi, riding Paul from the Royal Cavalry won the title of category d. Two horses were able to pass the junior competitions.


At the conclusion of the competition, Ahmed bin Saif al Abri, Treasurer and Head of the Competitions Committee at Oman Equestrian Federation crowned the winners and honoured the horse riders.


The Oman Equestrian Federation has 16 competitions for the season 2016-2017, including two grand awards, in addition to the final contest, which will take place on April 18, 2017.— ONA
