SALALAH, july 27 - Royal Oman Police (ROP) joined hands with hospitality major Crowne Plaza Resort Salalah to create road safety awareness during the monsoon (Khareef) season among the visitors.

Due to influx of visitors from the neighbouring GCC countries and residents from the Sultanate, Salalah roads get very busy. Moreover, due to constant drizzling the roads also become slippery sometimes.

The awareness, according to Manuel Levonian, resort General Manager, “is aimed at alerting the visitors to remain vigilant so that their stay remain easy and pleasant.”

“The campaign is very timely as we are currently in Khareef season and we expect the roads to be very busy. We aim to create awareness and inculcate responsible driving among the drivers and tourists to help prevent road accidents in the city,” he said.

The ROP personnel highlighted the dangers of speeding and the importance of seat belts and children’s restraint as well as the risks of using mobile phones and the importance of adhering to traffic rules and regulations. Drivers were also given brochures and pamphlets, which provide information on the road safety.
