*Asian woman arrested for stealing RO1,300

Muscat –Royal Oman Police (ROP) has revealed that its criminal investigation department linked to the Al Khoud police station in Ruwi arrested 185 people in March this year, accused of thefts from shops, houses, vehicles, mosques, fraud and snatching of bags from women.


The criminal investigation team in Al Khoud also arrested an Asian national accused of stealing money from her employer's home.


As per the details, the accused stole money worth RO1,300 from her place of work and fled to an unknown destination. She was arrested following search operations during which she confessed to the crime.


The legal proceedings were against her and the matter has been referred to public prosecution.


ROP said it appreciates the contribution of people that led to the arrest of the accused and the roles played by citizens and residents in the detection of crimes. It also urged citizens to take necessary precautions to secure their property.


Meanwhile, the general administration for the control of narcotic drugs arrested a citizen for possessing and trafficking narcotic substances in Seeb. Over 300 different psychotropic substances and drugs were seized from him.


The suspect has been referred to the prosecution to complete the legal procedures.


ROP appreciated the efforts made by citizens and residents in the fight against drugs, calling on all parties to inform the police of any acts carried out related to drug and psychotropic substances by contacting the hotline (1444) or emergency telephone (9999).
