Road accidents in Sultanate decline 39 pc

The road accidents in the Sultanate have come down by 39 per cent in January this year, according to statistics issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) and the Royal Oman Police (ROP). A total of 194 accidents were reported as against 318 in January 2017.


The accidents resulted in 43 deaths and 273 injuries as against 52 deaths and 251 injuries in the same period.


A total of 27 Omanis (21 males, six females) died in the accidents.


A total of 16 expatriates (15 males, one female) were killed.


A total of 196 Omanis (134 males, 62 females) were injured.


The number of injured expatriates was 77 (69 males, eight females).
