MUSCAT: The Expanded Economic Committee meeting after concluding its discussions decided to present the report on the draft State’s budget for the fiscal year 2018 at the next regular session, to append the comments of the members prior to submitting it to the Council of Ministers.
The Expanded Economic Committee at the State Council discussed the draft general budget of the State for the fiscal year 2018, referred by the Majlis Ash’shura, which approved it at its fifth regular session of the third annual session of the eighth period and was briefed about the Majlis Ash’shura Council’s views on the draft budget.
The Committee is composed of members of the Economic Committee and the heads of the Standing Committees of the Council and is headed by Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Harthy, Head of the Economic Committee. The Committee appreciated the efforts exerted by the government in the preparation of the draft budget, which took into account the challenges faced in improving the main indicators of financial performance and the pursuit of the economic and social objectives for which the budget was set in line with the Ninth Five-Year Development Plan in its third year.
The Expanded Economic Committee, after completing all discussions decided to transmit its report on the draft budget to the next Regular session of the Council for discussion, before forwarding it to the Council of Ministers together with the recommendations of the two Councils in accordance with article 58 bis (40) of the Basic Statute of the State.
