MUSCAT: Bank Muscat, the flagship financial services provider in the Sultanate, is all set to reward outstanding SME initiatives by women entrepreneurs as registration has opened for al Wathbah Businesswomen’s Awards 2016. The second edition of al Wathbah Businesswomen’s Awards comes as part of the bank’s ‘Let’s Do More’ vision and commitment to partnership in supporting women entrepreneurs for making a mark with successful business projects.

Encouraging entrepreneurial skills, the award recognises businesswomen for playing an important role in contributing to the country’s economy. Applicants can make online registration for the award on www.bankmuscat.com and the last date for registration is January 15, 2017.

Fatma al Maskiry (pictured), AGM — SME Credit, Marketing and Regional Corporates, said: “Bank Muscat is proud to have initiated a series of innovative programmes benefiting SMEs. Al Wathbah Businesswomen’s Award has become a major annual celebration aimed at appreciating and recognising Omani women entrepreneurs who demonstrate excellence in their business and benefiting the community.

We are happy that al Wathbah Businesswomen’s Award has set a benchmark for business development initiatives by Omani women entrepreneurs. The award complements the series of initiatives launched by the bank as part of a comprehensive plan to support women entrepreneurs in Oman.”

The eligibility for the award includes that applicants must be Omani women and their business should be registered or a home business. Any woman registered in Bank Muscat al Wathbah Women Business Forum can also apply.  The evaluation of the projects for the awards will be based on the criteria of creativity and innovation, financial performance, leadership and commitment, sustainability and corporate social responsibility.

The bank’s al Wathbah SME department offers a comprehensive suite of tailor-made finance solutions and non-financial services targeted at small and medium enterprises. Credit facilities, both short-term and long-term in nature, are available to all sectors.

Further support is extended through non-financial services in areas of education, coaching, networking opportunities and workshops. One such example is the bank’s al Wathbah Academy.
