MUSCAT, Jan 31 -

Focus on rural Oman continued to be a thump card for Muscat Festival this year. Be it the corridor preparing Omani food, the souq selling accessories or the rural Oman that have been recreated on the festival grounds of Amirat.

“I would prefer the festival to be this way but perhaps on a slightly bigger scale. There is no point in spending money to organise and bring people from other cultures here. “Foreign visitors to Oman would like to see the culture of the Sultanate,” Rebecca Chris, a UK-based visitor currently on a GCC tour.

“I would prefer venues to be bigger with more varieties but everything should be traditional. This is fine as everything looks natural, only that it should be bigger. But Oman’s population is less than five million.

We have to keep that in mind,” she added.

“I have come from India specifically for this festival on request by children based here. It is difficult to know about the traditional culture and food if

you are staying in a modern city like Muscat. Recreating Rural Oman is a best thing I would like to see here and this is a great idea,” Dibankar Bhat, who hails from the Indian city of Kolkata said.
