Those who love daredevils behind roaring driving machines were in for a treat on some days of the festival. Onlookers watched with bated breath when CPD Round 3 was held at the Muscat Arena on January 20 at 6 pm, while SWS Sprint took place on Muscat Speedway on January 21. For car lovers, it was a treat for the eyes when the classic car show was held at the Muscat Arena on January 27.
919098Super Cars Club Arabia Challenge aka Omaniya tour, organised by the Super Cars Club Arabia, is a highly anticipated event that brought together the region’s premier exotic automobile enthusiasts in an exciting circuit that brought them from the Sultanate’s capital to the UAE. On February 3, the King of Nation race was held at the favourite spot of Muscat Arena, whereas T3 Round 1 and Round 2 too were held at the 4×4 Track, providing another treat for sports lovers. Super Car Majlis and Drag Race added flavour to the total experience.
“F5WC is the most important sporting event in Muscat Festival 2017 as we were keen to have Session 17 in the Sultanate qualifiers of the World Championships F5WC in order to identify youths’ skills and talents, along with a drift race, which is held at the grounds of the Omani Automobile Association,” a Muscat Festival organising committee member said.
“The event includes many activities, namely, T3 — National Drift, Desert Rally, SUV race and local drift-karting — as well as the most prominent event of Tour of Oman 2017 with participation from elite riders from across the world. The event will be held from February 14 to 19,” he added. On February 10 and 11, Oman’s First Bike Festival will take place at the Muscat Arena from 6 pm to 10.30 pm. The T3 Round 2 is scheduled to take place at the 4×4 Track on February 11, while the SWS – Endurance will be held on Muscat Speedway on the same day. This year’s Muscat Festival stands out in terms of combining recreation, entertainment, education and sporting at both Naseem Park and Amerat Park.
The paintball game at the Naseem Park is a sure-shot attraction that will excite festival-goers.
