MUSCAT: The Royal Army of Oman (RAO), represented by Sultan of Oman Parachutes, Musandam Security Force, Sultan of Oman Artillery, and Engineering Services of the Sultan’s Armed Forces (DAF), on Wednesday carried out the demonstration of the joint exercise ‘Mountain Storm’ or ‘Assifat Al Jabal’ under the auspices of Maj Gen Matar bin Salim al Balushi, RAO Commander. Units of the British forces also took part in the exercise. The demonstration took place in the RAO Combat Training Unit in mountainous and built areas in Al Jabal Al Akhdhar in the Governorate of Al Dakhiliyah.

The participating forces carried out various actions and stages of reconnaissance and mobilisation by using different types of weapons. The participants showed a high level of performance and morale that reflected efficiency and capacities of the RAO personnel in terms of training and high rehabilitation level. This exercise comes within the framework of the training plan adopted by the RAO Command in order to raise the level of training and combat performance among the RAO personnel. The exercise also comes as part of the programmes implemented by the RAO with friendly countries as RAO is keen to participate in such events to achieve the envisaged objectives and share military expertise. — ONA
