Rains lash Ibri, Yanqul, Samayil and Dhank

MUSCAT: Moderate to heavy rains and thunder showers accompanied by wind and hail continued in some wilayats on Tuesday. Heavy rains mostly centred on mountainous areas.  The wilayats of Ibri, Yanqul, Samayil and Dhank experienced scattered showers causing some wadis to overflow as a result of local clouds formation. The rain reduced the temperatures and raised the water level in those wilayats and affected the vehicular movement on some roads.

In the Wilayat of Samayil, continued thunder showers have caused some Wadis to overflow. The Wilayat of Ibri experienced moderate to heavy rains while extremely heavy rains accompanied by hail were reported in the Niyabat of Al Jabal Al Akdhar and the neighbouring townships. Authority for Civil Aviation (Oman Met office) predicts local cloud formation to continue over Al Hajar Mountains and surrounding areas on Wednesday with chances of scattered rains and occasionally thundershowers in the evening. Cloudy conditions should prevail over the coastal strip of Dhofar Governorate and adjacent areas with chances of intermittent drizzle and scattered showers in the evening. There are also chances of early morning and late night low-level clouds over parts of the coastal strip of the Arabian Sea and the Sea of Oman.
