A woman gave birth to quintuplets or five children at the Royal Hospital Muscat on Wednesday.
The birth of quintuplets at the Royal Hospital is one of the rare cases in the country, said the Ministry of Health (MoH).
According to the ministry, the woman gave birth to one boy and four girls. However, one of the girls died immediately after the birth.
Both the mother and the four babies are healthy, said the ministry sources.
The children’s weight ranges from 1 to 1.2 kg and their health is stable. They are now in the neonatal intensive care department of Royal Hospital.
Both parents praised the medical staff for their continuous support and care. They also have a five-year-old daughter.
The babies were delivered at the 29th week of pregnancy through Caesarean section.
