A meeting was held yesterday to update Omani companies about preparations for the upcoming Omani Products Exhibition, which will be held from October 29 to November 1, 2018 in Nairobi, Kenya. Organised by a committee formed by the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE), Public Authority for Investment Promotion and Export Development (Ithraa), and Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), the ninth edition of OPEX will explore new opportunities for the Omani products in Kenya and neighbouring markets.

The meeting was organised in the presence of representatives of a Kenyan exhibition organising company, which will contribute in organising the event in Kenya. Speaking at the meeting, Ayman bin Abdullah al Hasani, Chairman of OPEX Organising Committee, noted that the meeting comes in preparation for the upcoming OPEX in Kenya to update the companies on the participation procedures and the promotional tools that will be utilised to boost the event’s organisation and increase the opportunities for the Omani products in Kenya as well as its neighbouring countries.

A video was screened at the meeting to brief the attending Omani companies on the life in Kenya in general and its growing economy in particular. The representatives of the Kenyan exhibition organising company pointed out that with an area of 580.367 km², the economy of Kenya is based on agriculture (78 per cent).

Besides, the main crops grown by Kenya include coffee, tea, banana, corn, rice, wheat, cotton, among others, as well as it relies on livestock grazing such as goats, cows, sheep and camels. The Kenyan organising company hosted a number of major regional and international events in the last decade including events of United Nations in addition to major sports events. The representatives of the company emphasised on the historical relations between the Sultanate and Kenya and the role that will be played by these relations in marking a success on OPEX 2018. The attending Omani companies at the meeting were acquainted with the event’s planning procedures including marketing, advertising and PR in its traditional and modern means, and the preparations for the B2B meetings that will take place as part of the event.
