This Thursday, the magnificent pipe organ that graces the stage of the Royal Opera House will come alive with a beautiful rendition of Camille Saint-Saëns’ majestic Organ Symphony led by the renowned British organist, pianist and conductor, Wayne Marshall with the Royal Oman Symphony Orchestra.

Wayne Marshall has the rare distinction of being equally adept as a musician and as a conductor. One of the most celebrated organists of our time, Wayne Marshall is also the Chief Conductor of WDR Funkhausorchester in Cologne, Germany and serves as a guest conductor for Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi, as well as for many other fine symphony orchestras. As a solo organist and pianist, Marshall performs recitals in a range of music genres at some of the world’s most prestigious venues with orchestras such as the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Berlin Philharmonic and the London Symphony Orchestra.

While the pipe organ, “The King of Instruments”, is still today used predominantly as a liturgical instrument, it also graces many concert halls, as it does the Royal Opera House Muscat with beautifully decorated pipes on its façade set within a great wooden cabinet that blends seamlessly into the timber decoration of the Auditorium. Along with its importance in the iconography of the ROHM, the organ serves as a versatile instrument with a gorgeous and diverse range of sound admired by the top-notch organists players who have played it over the past six seasons at ROHM.

ROHM’s magnificent pipe organ concert will take place at the Royal Opera House Muscat on Wednesday January 25, 2018 at 7:00 pm. For further information and booking consult the ROHM website: www.rohmuscat.org.om
