MUSCAT, JAN 23 -

The Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE), represented by the Origin Oman campaign, is taking part in the 35th edition of the International Fair of Khartoum in Sudan, which was inaugurated at the Fair Ground in Buri under the auspices of Sudan’s prime minister and first vice-president Bakri Hassan Saleh.

Saleh hailed the first participation of the Omani firms and stressed the importance of the presence of Omani companies in such events, which play a role in strengthening the international relations between the Sultanate and Sudan.

Shaikh Dr Sulaiman bin Saud al Jabri, Ambassador of the Sultanate to Sudan, emphasised the importance of the Sultanate’s participation in the event represented by the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates and its pavilion that features various Omani firms.

“This participation will certainly have a significant impact on the marketing of the Omani products, which will also contribute to the development of the private sector in Oman and consequently support the national economy. I encourage Omani companies to focus on the Sudanese market, being one of the promising markets that have a will to purchase high quality products with features enjoyed by the Omani products,” Al Jabri said.

He added: “In line with the efforts undertaken by the Sultanate’s Embassy in Sudan to facilitate the investment and trade process between Oman and Sudan, we seek to organise an investment forum in Khartoum for investors from both sides with the aim of boosting trade exchange and intensifying economic relations between the two countries.”

This is the first participation of PEIE at the International Fair of Khartoum, which comes in line with its efforts to expand the markets for the Omani products. PEIE is participating with a pavilion that features Omani companies representing various industries. Sudan was selected due to its large population likewise the rest of the Nile Basin countries and due to the fact that Sudan provides significant raw materials especially in the agricultural sector.

More than 680 companies are participating in this event representing 33 countries. These companies are representing various sectors including agricultural machinery and equipment; information technology; energy and mines; building materials; services; medical supplies; consumer goods; and household. Besides, a lineup of events are scheduled to be held on the sidelines of the exhibition, including a general trade fair, platform for b2b meetings, seminars and discussion session.

PEIE’s participation in this exhibition comes as part of Origin Oman Campaign for the year 2018, which aspires at raising awareness on the locally manufactured products and services and their ability to compete locally and abroad. The Origin Oman Campaign is a national initiative designed to encourage consumers and organisations to buy Oman made goods and services, promote national pride in the manufacturing industry and highlight the economic importance of buying locally manufactured products and services.
