Pakistan signs Global Compact Documents at WHO ministerial meet

SALALAH: World Health Organization (WHO) hosted the Ministerial Meeting on “Road to Universal Health Coverage in the Eastern Mediterranean Region” in Salalah till September 5.


Ali Javed, Ambassador of Pakistan, represented his country at the event and signed the ‘Global Compact Document’ on behalf of the Government of Pakistan.


Dr Sania Nishtar, a renowned Pakistani regarded as a Global Health Expert, delivered the key note address at the plenary session on September 3. She delivered a lecture focusing on Non Communicative Diseases (NCDs).


The session was graced with their eminent presence by His Highness Sayyid Asaad bin Tareq al Said, Deputy Prime Minister on International Relations Affairs and Special Representative of His Majesty, Princess Dina Mired, President-elect of the Union for International Cancer Control from Jordan and Her Highness Sayyida Dr Mona bint Fahd Al Said, Assistant Vice Chancellor, Sultan Qaboos University, as well as Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed al Saeedi, Minister of Health.


20 member states from the region participated in the event.


The Ambassador expressed satisfaction at the proceedings and reiterated support for the efforts of the WHO, Oman and all partner countries from the region.
