Pact signed to provide broadband services to University City

MUSCAT: A cooperation agreement was signed at Oman University project between the University City (Science and Technology City and Oman University) and Oman Broadband Company (OBC) to provide high-speed fibre optic infrastructure for the University City. The agreement was signed as part of the cooperation between the various government and private institutions to enhance the public-private partnership to achieve development of economic and service infrastructure. The agreement was signed by Dr Rawya bint Saud al Busaidiya, Minister of Higher Education, Chairperson of the Executive Committee of Oman University Project and the City of Science and Technology Project, a member of the Project’s Supervising Committee and Said bin Abdullah al Mantheri, CEO of OBC.


Based on this agreement, OBC will provide City with fibre optic network with high efficiency and flexibility to accommodate future technical advances, provide high-speed telecom and Internet services, enabling the university to offer high-speed Internet speeds for students, researchers and university residents. This will contribute to strengthening the digital infrastructure of the University City. — ONA
