SALALAH, MAY 28 - Everyone, specifically every government department did its bit to ensure that the Mekunu-caused damage could be minimised and maximum support be given to the affected people. Some efforts were quite visible and praiseworthy as they were seen braving the cyclone to save the residents’ life and property. There were many others who were working behind the scene as silent workers. Their efforts were equally important in maintaining the situation normal — before, during and after the cyclone hit Salalah.
One such department is Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP). Its Dhofar chapter worked tirelessly to ensure that enough food stuff and other necessary items should remain in the market and prices of all the items remain under control. “We ensured that no one took advantage of the situation and there was sufficient supply of basic food items like rice, pulses, milk, bread and water as also batteries, candles, match boxes etc to meet the cyclone situation,” said Ali Salem al Basrawi, PACP’s Dhofar In-charge.
