MUSCAT: The 7th Intilaaqah (Springboard) programme concluded at the Grand Millennium Hotel, Muscat, on Wednesday under the auspices of Shaikh Khalid bin Omar al Marhoon, Minister of Civil Service. Over 230 employees from various state administrative units took part in the three-month programme, which was implemented by the Ministry of Civil Service, in cooperation with Ooredoo, in the field of self-development. The programme was aimed at empowering Omani women through an intensive course to provide female employees of ministries and various bodies in the government sector with basic skills in many different fields that were later applied during the project development course.

The project comes within the framework of a series of programmes and training events aimed at enhancing the efficiency of female employees and providing them with the necessary knowledge and skills and developing their practical abilities to carry out the tasks entrusted to them effectively.

The Civil Service Minister said, “Omani woman is an active partner in the comprehensive development process achieved in the country since the beginning of the glorious era of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos in all forms of support to enhance her role in this development process.

“This has enabled Omani woman to prove her efficiency and seriousness in all positions of responsibility and in various sectors, including the civil service sector”.

He added that females constitute 48 per cent of the total employees in the civil service sector, which indicates their great role in developing this sector and the development of its mechanisms to provide government services efficiently and effectively.

“The number of beneficiaries of Intilaaqah programme has increased to 1,000 with more than 330 projects being completed,’ said Ian Dench, CEO of Omani-Qatari Telecommunications Company.

“This pioneering programme has been developed by a number of women to empower female employees from several ministries and government institutions throughout the Sultanate and provided them with basic skills in many fields.’

At the end of the ceremony, the minister honoured winners of Intilaaqah projects, as well as the participants.

The closing ceremony was attended by Dr Muna bint Salim al Jardaniyah, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Manpower for Technical Education and Vocational Training, officials from the Ministry of Civil Service and the Omani-Qatari Telecommunications Company (Ooredoo). — ONA
