Over 16,000 active establishments covered by Social Insurance System till April

MUSCAT: The number of active establishments covered by the social insurance system reached 16,779 by the end of April 2018, according to the latest statistics issued by the Public Authority for Social Insurance (PASI). The number of active insureds registered in social insurance in the private sector reached 228,803 with a total number of 25,379 registered cases. The majority of active insureds are in the age group of 26-30 years, constituting 22.7 per cent of the total active insureds. The average wage for the total active insureds is RO 686.


Severance of service, which includes termination of service, resignation, transfer to another employer and severance of service due to death or disability and severance of service for other reasons till the end of April were 20,027 cases. The number of active insured persons in the common system of extending insurance protection to GCC citizens were 1,734 cases. The number of active insureds in the insurance system for Omanis working abroad and their equivalents were 37 cases until the end of April 2018.

The number of cumulative pension cases disbursed until the end of last April were 16,107 cases. The disbursements for old-age pensions accounted for 42.7 per cent of the total pension until the end of April, followed by the non-vocational death rate of 31.5 per cent, followed by cases of disability pension resulting from a non-occupational cause, accounting for 19.2 per cent.


Disbursements for occupational disability pensions and professional death pensions constituted 2.7 per cent and 3.8 per cent respectively of total pension disbursements until the end of April. The number of cases where insurance benefits have been paid due to work injuries were 142 cases till the end of April. Traffic accidents formed 35.2 per cent of the cases. — ONA
