Outstanding students programme launched at OMC in Sohar

MUSCAT: An outstanding students programme was launched recently at Oman Medical College organised by the Directorate General of Education in North Al Batinah Governorate. The event was launched by Ali Ahmed Meshari Al Shamsi, Wali of Suhar, Dr Ali Nasser al Harrasi, Director-General of General Directorate of Al Batinah North Governorate, head of the Omani Medical College and Executive Director of Sohar Port. The programme targets outstanding students of grade ten in English language from My Summer My Education 2017 which was held at International Maritime College Oman from July 9 to July 27. It is being held in cooperation with Sohar Industrial Port Company.


Aseela al Jabri, trainer in the programme says through this programme, students will not only succeed academically but will be exposed to unique opportunities that will help to build several skills. The experience will shape the students to be responsible and independent citizen. It contains a distinctive course in English language conducted by a native speaker of English lecturer from Oman Medical College. The programme also focuses on developing students’ life skills through various practical lectures concentrating on different topics like self confidence, future planning, smart use of technology, conversational and communication skills which will be presented in English in different locations.


The programme targets a group of 20 students from grade 10 who got the highest marks in the previous version of My Summer My Education 2017. The programme consists of five sub programmes; a qualified programme specilised in English language, a programme in leadership, teamwork, self confidence, and communications skills along with a group visit.
