OTTC signs deal with Dhofar Club for junior centre

MUSCAT: Oman Table Tennis Committee (OTTC) signed an agreement with Dhofar Club to establish a special centre for junior age group. The centre, which is located in Salalah, will be the 10th centre under the supervision of OTTC in the Sultanate. The other centres are Muscat, Al Ettifaq, Ibri, Al Nahdha, Sultan Qaboos Youth, Culture and Entertainment Compound in Salalah, Saham, Ahli Sidab and Seeb.


The OTTC team, presided over by Abdullah Bamukhaef, Chairman of OTTC, had a visit to Dhofar Governorate recently. During the visit, the OTTC chairman told the clubs on the importance of having such centres for junior categories in order to raise their technical level in TT and provide the right platform for them to grow rapidly. These players will contribute to the national pool of talents.


As many as 20 players are currently practicing in the Dhofar centre. Also, the centre included some participation of ladies. Ahmed Helmi is heading the coaching. OTTC is planning to open some new centres in other clubs in 2019.


The OTTC team discussed during the site visit to Salalah, the preparations to host Al Amal International Camp for junior category next July in Salalah. The OTTC members reviewed logistics preparations including accommodation and transportation. Also, OTTC team discussed with the Directorate-General of Sports Affairs in Dhofar to reserve the right indoor and outdoor halls for training.


Abdullah Bamukhaef chaired the visit to Dhofar in presence of Mohammed al Kalbani, the General Secretary of OTTC, Sajjad al Lawati, member of OTTC, and Mohammed Atoum, Oman head coach.
