OSFA electronic auction continues till early May

The fine art electronic auction of the Omani Society of Fine Arts (OSFA) of the Diwan of Royal Court finally started on April 10 and continues till early May 2018.  This initiative comes within the activities of OSFA in the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Silver Jubilee.

The auction aims to spread the culture of acquisition among all groups of society — to encourage and motivate individuals to invest in arts, and to support the Omani artists, members of the society. It also targets to introduce Omani artists through social media channels and to promote the principle of social solidarity through supporting charitable institutions in the Sultanate.
It will also help creating a database for those interested in fine arts, collectors, resorts, hotels and projects in general to invest in art.
The auction started with the first artwork of the Omani prominent artist Anwar Sonia at different social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram and Twitter through the account of OSFA (osfagovoman).
Anwar Sonia is one of the founders of fine art movement in the country. He is a lecturer in the field and many art students have found him a treasure full of knowledge in the fine art. He has held hundreds of workshops in different governorates in the Sultanate.
Sonia also has many achievements and participations at the international, regional and local levels. He has a distinguished position in the Arab National Organization in particular. He received a number of artistic accolades. Anwar Sonia featured various topics of nature, folklore, ancient life, Omani heritage in general and humanity related issues.
A great response was paid to the auction where the picture started by RO 250 and now reached RO 1000, and it is still on until May 10. The picture titled: Dimensions from the Depth of Life is 90 X 90 cm on canvas. The picture highlights the Omani identity and nature through symbols like poetry, fronds, traditional costumes and the old villages. Colors of the picture reflects vitality and cheerfulness.
The picture is displayed at the headquarters of OSFA in al Sarooj for preview.
