SOHAR: Oman Oil Refineries and Petroleum Industries (Orpic) signed an agreement on Thursday to start the construction works for the Child Exploratory Centre.

The centre is part of modern and distinctive divisions of Falaj Al Qabayel Public Park in the Wilayat of Sohar in the Governorate of North Al Batinah at a total cost of RO 180,000 funded by Orpic and overseen by Jusoor, as part of the local support to various sustainable development projects.

The project will be held on an area of 600 square metres and it will be completed in 11 months.

The centre is designed to provide educational, sport and exploratory services for children from the age of three years through an interactive fun environment, that enables the children to explore sciences around them and daily life skills.

Dr Hilal bin Abdullah al Hinai, Director-General of Support Services at Orpic and Mortadha al Ajmi, from Mortadha Al Ajmi Trading

and Contracting, the company executing the project, signed the agreement.

Dr Hilal said that Orpic is delighted to have signed this agreement to the Child Exploratory Centre, which is an addition to a series of social investment projects funded by Orpic to the local community.

He added that by signing this agreement, the construction of the centre will begin and will last for 11 months, hoping that the centre will be a source of education for the children in the Governorate of North Al Batinah and the Sultanate in general. — ONA
