Orpic celebrates graduation of 147 Omani trainees

SUHAR: Oman Oil Refineries and Petroleum Industries (Orpic) celebrated the batch 7 graduation of 147 trainees and the batch 8 welcoming of 114 trainees.


The annual graduation event was held this year under the auspices of Dr Yahya bin Mahfoudh al Mantheri, Chairman of State Council and attended by their excellencies, the Walis of Suhar and Liwa, their excellencies representatives of the State Council and Ash’shura Council, CEO of Orpic and community leaders at a gala ceremony in Suhar.


As many as 1005 Omani trainees have been part of Orpic’s Trainees Development Programme over the past seven years enrolled across different disciplines such as mechanical, electrical and instrument engineers, HSE fire fighters, process operators and engineers. Whom are fully equipped to form Orpic’s first taskforce cell, working in one of the company’s major growth project, the Muscat-Suhar Product Pipeline & Al Jefnain Terminal, Sohar Refinery Improvement Project, Liwa Plastic Industries project ( LPIC).


Speaking about the occasion, Dr Yahya bin Mahfoudh al Mantheri, Chairman of State Council, said: “I am proud of being part of this celebration and witnessing another batch of talented youth join the workforce at Orpic. The training of young Omani youth is crucial for the current market challenges which will pave the way towards strong, sustainable and balanced growth to Orpic and the national economy.”


Ahmed bin Saleh al Jahdhami, Orpic’s CEO, said, “We are endeavouring, through Orpic programme to develop trainees’ abilities, to create an advanced work environment in both practical and educational fields, enabling our employees to sharpen their skills and improve their talents”.


Al Jahdhami further explained that “ This programme is the first step to provide trainee with their needed knowledge and encourage them to be independent to launch their own effort to attain success which cannot be gained without sincere working and seizing the available opportunities provided by the company”. The Orpic Trainee Development Programme was established in 2011 to cater to the needs of Orpic’s expansion plans.
