Organ, blood donors to be felicitated at cultural event

Muscat, August 27 - Good Samaritans, who have donated blood and other organs to support the lives of others, will be honoured at a cultural event organised by the All India United Association, a convergence of people from various states of India, as part of their Eid-Onam celebrations.


Adding to the colour will be the specially flown in names from the south Indian cinema who are all set to stage a scintillating show in Muscat on September 2 at the Letter Grande hall of Al Falaj, the organisers said.


Talal al Saidi, who has donated blood more than 75 times, and Faiza Ahmed, of Oman Blood Donors, will share the stage with Jeevan, who donated his kidney to an ailing patient. The event, organised by Night Floor Universal Events, will also bring together some of the acclaimed persona from the celluloid such as Neena Kurup and others at the event presided over by Indramani Pandey, Ambassador of India to the Sultanate, said K P Gopi, President of AIUA.


The event will begin with traditional band called ‘Panchavadyam’ followed by lamp lighting and presidential and keynote addresses by the chief guest. Madhavan of Al Heera Films, philanthropist Mohanan Pattathilparambil, who holds a doctorate for charity from the US and Sophia Helen are some of the key personalities who will be honoured at the event. This will follow various cultural and fun-packed stage programmes aimed at enthralling the audience, the organisers said. Hema Malini, chief event coordinator; Veena Harish, programme coordinator; Pradeep Mannuthy, programme coordinator; K T Prasad, secretary; and Meera Anil Kumar, programme coordinator, were also present at the media briefing.
