Following on from the huge success of last week’s ‘Lunch Music’ with the popular Puccini arias, don’t miss the chance to enjoy the young artists of the Pavarotti Foundation in Muscat for the ‘Homage to Pavarotti’ concert on the 14th December. Lunch Music on the 16th at 12.30 in the relaxed informal setting of the main foyer of the Opera Galleria will be a continuation of the celebration of the life and legacy of the legendary Luciano Pavarotti. Four young musicians, currently under the sponsorship of the Pavarotti Foundation, will perform from his famous repertoire of popular operatic songs, accompanied by a pianist.

The Pavarotti Foundation was set up by Nicoletta Mantovani Pavarotti, his widow, in order to continue her husband’s great ambition to inspire love for opera across the world, across generations and across social divides. The foundation supports young artists and works to maintain the memory of the legend Pavarotti with International tours and with the establishment of the Pavarotti museum in his home town of Modena in Italy. Pavarotti’s career was long and glorious and he is famous throughout the world for his flamboyant and engaging personality both on stage and off. The foundation has given Royal Opera House permission to host the exhibition currently showing in the opera house of Pavarotti memorabilia, which runs until the 6th January, Royal Opera House Muscat is privileged to be among only a few opera house granted this exhibition.

Lunch Music has been gaining momentum as a cultural event in Muscat over the past few months and is widely considered a fun and engaging experience shared by all nationalities and ages in Oman. Seats are available, bystanders are encouraged, passersby have the chance to catch two minutes of the music and children roam freely in this fabulous atmosphere of unforced cultural pleasure. I am sure Pavarotti would have approved! Additionally there is no cost to the event.
