OMC to organise white coat ceremony on December 20

MUSCAT: Oman Medical College (OMC) is organising a White Coat Ceremony on December 20, on Wednesday, for the final year, Bachelor of Pharmacy students at their Bausher Campus, under the patronage of Dr Qasim al Salmi, Director-General of Royal Hospital, Ministry of Health.


It is the first private college in Oman (for Medicine and Pharmacy Programme) and the white coat ceremony is an annual function at the campus. The symbolic ‘White Coat’ on students and health professionals emphasises professionalism and integrity as these students will soon begin their clinical rotations.


Oman Medical College was established in 2001 in academic partnership with West Virginia University, USA. It is the first private medical school licensed by the Ministry of Higher Education and the Ministry of Health in the Sultanate of Oman to provide Doctor in Medicine (MD) and Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm) programmes. The curriculum will be in English. About 479 medical doctors, and 304 pharmacists have graduated from Oman Medical College till date. In addition to the Omani students, a number of students from the GCC and other foreign countries have also graduated from this institution.
