By Business Reporter — MUSCAT: MARCH 19 - The Capital Market Authority (CMA) participated in the Jobs and Training Exhibition 2017, which was held at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) last week. Its presence at the three-day long event was aimed at highlighting career and training opportunities for young Omanis in the Sultanate’s insurance and securities sector. In a press statement, the Authority underlined job opportunities in accounting, marketing, finance, Information Technology and management trades within the insurance sector, noting that Omanisation jumped a robust 70 per cent in the industry last year.

“The CMA attaches great importance to promoting employment opportunities in the sector  due to its contribution to the GDP and enhancement of the added economic value of the sector and implementation of Omanisation policies based on empowering the national cadres in the mid and senior level positions where expatriates continue to dominate the sector,” the Authority said. The CMA is keen to qualify national cadres through training programmes designed to equip them with the requisite industry skills but also to bring them up to speed on compliance issues relevant to the sector, it further stated. As many as 18 training programmes have available to those aspiring for careers in the insurance and securities sector this year.
