Omanis in GCC to vote on Sunday

Muscat: The Omani voters residing in the GCC countries as well as students studying there can cast their votes on Sunday (December 18) to elect their representatives for the municipal councils in the Sultanate’s embassies in GCC countries and the trade office in Dubai.


The voters from governorates of Dhofar and Musandam can also cast their votes on the same day in Bausher in the Governorate of Muscat ( in Al Oula School for basic education and Thurya al Busaidiya School for basic education).


Employees working in the electoral committees in the Governorate of Muscat can also vote in Bausher. Voters from other governorates who are in Dhofar can cast their vote at Al Noor School for basic education in Salalah. The polling stations in the Sultanate’s embassies in the GCC and the two centres in Muscat and Salalah will be open to voters from 8 am to 6 pm on Sunday.


The total number of eligible voters stands at 623,224 (333,733 men and 289,491 women). As many as 731 candidates (708 men and 23 women) will be competing for 202 seats in the municipals councils. The elections will be held in 107 polling stations (18 for women, 18 for men and 71 polling stations for both men and women)polling officials said. SEE ALSO P3
