A group of Omani students studying in Ohio were on their way to spend the winter vacation in California, where they found their car had been vandalized, a set of luggage and belongings stolen during the period of eating for dinner at one of the San Francisco restaurants. The students urged other Omani counterparts in the US to be careful as such incidents are in common in crowded places in the United States. The report was released by the Ministry of Higher Education in Oman.

One of the students said, "On our way from the state of Los Angeles to California, we stopped in San Francisco to take a break and have dinner around 7pm local time. On our return to the parking, we found broken windows, four bags stole along with a laptop, digital camera, a mobile phone, and headphones and some clothes, in addition to a passport and some important papers of one of our colleagues."

The students said that they communicated with the city police and by waited for them for an hour and a half. The CCTV at one of the shops had captured the video of the robbers. We took the video and we went to the police station, who opened the case so that we could replace the rented car with another for us to continue our journey.
