Muscat, June 13 -

An Omani student at Bond University in the Queensland state of Australia has excelled in academics, having secured first rank in a subject titled ‘Economics of Sustainable Development’ in the third semester.

Ali bin Hamed bin Mohammed al Abadi, who is pursuing a bachelor course in Sustainable Environment and Planning, has been ranked first in the subject, ‘Economics of Sustainable Development’. In the fourth semester, he had secured first level in the subject, ‘Urban Wildlife Management’.

In his current and last semester, Ali was honoured with the excellence certificate, ‘Dean’s List for Academic Excellence’ for his exceptional academic performance. “I’m happy with my accomplishments at the university. These are initial steps to higher achievements. It is my last semester and I am eagerly waiting to work and take part in the development of my beloved country, Oman,” he said.

Ali said his certificate of excellence was a “motivation for better achievements in the future”.

Ali faced many difficulties in his academic life. Besides the “culture shock”, he found it difficult to adapt to western education. But he managed to overcome challenges through systematic study.

Ali gives credit to his mother, family members, Omani and international colleagues in Australia, besides his “motivational teachers”, for his accomplishments.

He is clear about his goal. He wants to work in the field of planning and design.
