Omani-Qatari panel discusses key issues

DOHA: The Omani-Qatari Joint Committee held its 19th meeting in Doha on Thursday. The Omani team was headed by Darwish bin Ismaeel al Balushi, Minister Responsible for Financial Affairs, while the Qatari side by Ali Shareef al Emadi, Minister of Finance.


The committee reviewed aspects of bilateral cooperation in economic, investment, culture, tourism, agriculture, fisheries, transport, sport and other relevant fields.


The committee explored bilateral ventures such as Deyar Ras Al Hadd, Karwa Motors and Al Meera, in addition to development of two Jabro quarries in Khatmat Milaha.


The panel also reviewed investments at the Special Economic Zone Authority in Duqm (SEZAD), besides agricultural and fisheries investments that achieve food security.


On the sidelines of the meeting, the two sides signed a MoU in consumer protection and bank development.


Al Balushi met with Shaikh Abdullah bin Nasser al Thani, Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Interior.


The two sides reviewed bilateral relations and means of enhancing them in all fields.


The meeting comes as part of the two countries’ keenness to eliminate all the difficulties faced by joint projects.


Al Balushi was accompanied by officials at the Ministry of Finance, in addition to representatives of the relevant authorities in the Sultanate.
