Dr Ali bin Masoud al Sunaidy, Minister of Commerce and Industry, Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Planning (SCP) received Lord Geoffrey James Dear, Deputy Speaker of the British House of Lords and his accompanying delegation, in Muscat on Wednesday. The meeting discussed bilateral relations between the Sultanate and the United Kingdom and means of enhancing the relations between the two friendly countries in trade and investment. The two sides also discussed means of developing and increasing investment volume and the mechanism of the commercial arbitration centre and how to benefit from the British experience in this field and the Sultanate’s experience in privatising some government services. The meeting was attended by a number of officials from the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. The UK topped foreign direct investment in the Sultanate until the end of the second-quarter of 2018, with RO 4.7 billion, compared to RO 3.7 billion in the same period of 2017, according to NCSI statistics. — ONA
