Oman U-18 volleyball team to take part in Asian Cup in Iran

Muscat, May 16 - Oman national volleyball U-18 team will take part at the 12th edition of Asian Volleyball Cup in Iran from June 29 to July 6. As many as 19 countries will participate in this edition of the championship that will see nine teams divided into three groups for the prequalification round. Oman is grouped with India and Kazakhstan in group 1. New Zealand, Uzbekistan and Pakistan are clubbed in group 2 while Qatar, Malaysia and Turkmenistan positioned in third group. All these teams will play in the league matches format and the top teams from each group will qualify for the finals. The Oman national team will commence its participation in the qualification by facing India on June 29 and take on Kazakhstan on July 2.


The preparation schedule of the national team is going as per the plan. The Oman U-16 team finished their 2017/2018 season and participation in the second division league recently. They recorded a crucial technical performance in the season and league. The schedule plan will be continued during the holy month of fasting and after Eid al Fitr break. Najeeb al Omri is the head coach of the Oman national volleyball U-16 team while Rashid al Muqbali is the assistant coach and Yousef al Saadi team manager. The 17-member squad will be shortlisted to 12 just before the departure for the Asian Cup.

Abd Al Salam al Shibli, Hassan al Ajmi, Majd alashbili, Ali Salem al Shibli, Abdullah al Shibli, Khalid al Muqbali, Ali Abdullah al Shibli, Esamah al Maamari, Younis al Maamari, Abdul Aziz al Hammadi, Ali al Salami, Anas al Hassani, Mutasim al Harthy, Ahmad al Noufali, Yarub al Habsi, Mahdi al Ajmi, Mahmoud al Yaqoubi, Technical team will finalise the number of players to 12 as final squad prior participation in the Asian Cup through evaluation system in internal camps.
