Oman U-16 team to have external camp in Tajikistan

MUSCAT, April 17 -


Oman U-16 football team will begin an internal camp tomorrow in preparation for the Asian Cup in Malaysia next September.


The under-16 team will follow up the home camp with a camp abroad in Tajikistan where they will play friendly matches on April 24th and 27th.


Yaqoob al Sabahi, head coach of Oman national team, has followed all clubs in Oman Football Association (OFA) U-15 football league. Al Sabahi and his assistant coach Hilal al Aufi has selected most players from the league after an evaluation of their technical and physical performance during the last internal camps and last rounds of league.


Defending champion Al Shabab, who clinched the U-15 football league shield after a thrilling 2-1 win over Seeb Club, have five players in the Oman national U-16 team.


As many as 16 teams are waiting for Asian Cup draw which will be held on April 26 in Kuala Lumpur. All the participating teams in the Asian Cup will be distributed it into four groups. The first two teams from each group will qualify for the next round.


The Oman National (U-16) football team secured the chair in the Asian Cup as they became second in the Group B in Asian Qualification with six points.


The Oman U-16 team has thrashed Maldives and Syria 8-0 and 6-0 respectively and suffered a 1-0 defeat from Tajikistan.
