MUSCAT: Oman Tourism College (OTC) will be hosting a career exhibition — Tourism Career Days — on December 18 from 9 am to 4 pm on its campus. The event will include a job fair open to public, giving businesses and companies a platform to network with talented students from OTC looking to gain marketable experience, in addition to young individuals seeking job opportunities. OTC students will also get the opportunity to seek out internships, job prospects and career opportunities from participating companies and OTC’s industry partners.

“We are an institution that endeavours to develop and create a sustainable talent pool of highly skilled prospects for Oman’s tourism industry.

It is a mission that we have set out on with the help of our industry partners; they contribute valuable expertise, know-how and provide critical market exposure to our students so that they are job ready. This event, therefore, will be an excellent opportunity for all participating companies to meet and engage with hundreds of students and alumni looking for internships, part-time and full-time jobs,” said Dr Abdulkarim al Mughairi, Dean, OTC.

There will be nearly 800 students across all OTC’s programmes — academic and vocational — participating in the event.

“It is a win-win for companies and students —while students will receive expert guidance to secure placement, companies will have access to a wider talent pool,” added Dr Al Mughairi.

During the event there will be seminars and workshops for OTC students, with several accomplished industry guest speakers and OTC alumni sharing their success stories and invaluable insights. Participating students will also receive the benefit of expert advice from career guidance counsellors. The two-day workshop has been developed exclusively for OTC students in collaboration with the college’s industry partners, reiterating its mission to work alongside Oman’s tourism sector and implement initiatives to optimise its potential.
