Oman participates in UN Convention against Corruption in Vienna

Vienna: The Sultanate, represented by the State Financial and Administrative Audit Institution (SFAAI) participated in the seventh session of the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption in Vienna, Austria, which started on Tuesday and continues for four days.


Shaikh Nasser bin Hilal al Maawali, Chairman of SFAAI leads the Sultanate’s delegation to the conference with the participation of Ambassador Dr Badr bin Mohammed al Hinai, Permanent Representative of the Sultanate in Vienna.


In his speech, Shaikh Nasser bin Hilal al Maawali stressed the keenness of the Sultanate, like other countries of the world, to achieve the objectives of the United Nations Convention against Corruption in promoting and strengthening measures aimed at preventing and combating corruption and promoting integrity, accountability and sound management of public affairs and property.


He also stressed the keenness of the Sultanate to meet the requirements of the Convention by addressing some of the legislations to harmonise them with the provisions of the Convention, in accordance with the reviewing of its implementation of chapters III and IV of the first session, in addition to revising a number of legislations.


The conference will review a number of issues and proposals on the implementation of the United Nations Convention against Corruption to come out with resolutions and recommendations that support the international community in preventing and combating corruption. — ONA
