Oman, Italy seek to promote all-round cooperation

MUSCAT: The Omani-Italian Joint Committee held a meeting at the Foreign Ministry on Sunday.


The Omani side was chaired by Mohammed bin Yousef al Zarafi, Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Administrative and Financial Affairs, while from the Italian side it was headed by Vincenzo Amendola, Italian Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.


The Committee reviewed bilateral cooperation between the two friendly countries. It also discussed the possibility of recognising Omani private higher education institutions in Italy.


Further, the Committee discussed inviting the Italian companies specialised in logistics services to benefit from the Omani ports in storing and distributing consumer products.


The Committee also discussed draft cooperation agreement in aviation services, mining and aquaculture sectors between the two sides.


The meeting was attended by Yahya bin Abdullah al Araimi, Head of Economic Affairs Sector, Hafeedh bin Salim Ba’omar, Head of International Cooperation Department, and officials from the ministry.


From the Italian side it was attended by Giorgio Visetti, Italian Ambassador to the Sultanate, and the delegation accompanying the guest.


Vincenzo Amendola also met Salim bin Nasser al Oufi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil and Gas.


The two sides discussed fields of the cooperation in oil and gas


areas between the two friendly countries, in addition to exchanging viewpoints on various matters of common concern.
