Oman, India seek to deepen cooperation in all spheres

MUSCAT: Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdallah, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs, received in his office on Thursday M J Akbar, the Indian Minister of State for External Affairs, who is chairing the Indian delegation in the 5th Arab-Indian Partnership Conference.


The two sides discussed means of promoting cooperation between the two friendly countries.


They also touched on several regional and international issues of common concern, as well as latest developments in the region.


The meeting was attended by Indra Mani Pandey, Ambassador of India to the Sultanate, officials at the Foreign Ministry and the delegation accompanying the guest.


Dr Ali bin Masoud al Sunaidy, Minister of Commerce and Industry, also received M J Akbar in his office on Thursday.


They discussed aspects of joint cooperation between the Sultanate and India in areas of innovation and applied research.


They also explored mechanisms of exchanging information in fields of industrial research, information technology (IT) and services of designing and e-content.


The two sides also touched on preparations related to holding a meeting of the Omani-Indian Joint Committee during the first quarter of 2017.
