Oman to host Intl women’s tent pegging championship

Muscat: The Sultanate will host on January 26 the first International Women Tent Pegging Championship in the Wilayat of Khasab in the Governorate of Musandam. The 3-day championship is organised by the International Tent Pegging Federation (ITPF). Mohamed bin Issa al-Fayrouz, President of ITPF said the beach championship will be held with the participation of the Sultanate, Egypt, Jordan, Sudan, Australia and South Africa which will compete during the evening period dedicated to the competition.


He added in a press conference held at the headquarters of the federation that the system of the championship will be based on the allocation of less medals instead of 9 medals to allow the tourist side in the morning period because of the characteristic of the Governorate of Musandam in terms of tourism sites that attract tourists. Al-Fayrouz pointed out that ITPF will hold on the sidelines of the championship meetings of the General Assembly of the federation, the meeting of the Executive Office and the meeting of the Board of Directors, in addition to the new Board elections for the next 4 years and the formation of the committees of the federation. ITPF includes 32 countries from with the possibility of increasing the number of countries that have sent files to join the federation pending confirmation of accession. — ONA
