Oman extends ban on hiring expats in certain sectors

The Minister of Manpower has issued decrees to extend the ban the recruitment of expatriate workers in professions such as construction and cleaning workers,  blacksmiths and brick kiln workers, carpenters and blacksmiths, sales, marketing and  procurement executives.


The Ministerial Decision 409/2017 extends ban on recruiting of expatriate workers in the construction and cleaning sectors as specified in Ministerial Decision No. 338/2014 for a period of six years, beginning on December 1,  2017.


The Ministerial Decision 410/2017 extends ban on recruiting expatriate workers in the private sector establishments for the activities specified in Ministerial Decision No. 122/2014 for a further period of 6 months starting from January 1 2018 as specified in the decision 122/2014 for carpenters, blacksmiths and blacksmiths and brick kiln workers.



The Ministerial Decision  411/2017 extends the ban on recruiting the expatriate workers in the private sector establishments for professions specified in Ministerial Decree No. 608/2013 for a further period of six months starting from November 39, 2017 related to sales, marketing, and procurement executives.
