MUSCAT, Jan 15 - The Oman Davis Cup team will travel to Nice, France, on January 16 for a training camp until January 25. The training camp is in preparation for Asia/Oceania Davis Cup Group IV tournament at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Muscat from January 29 to February 3. The delegation includes team captain Siddiq al Hashmi with players Mohammed al Nabhani, Abdullah al Barwani, Younis al Rawahi and Muneer al Rawahi, according to a press release from the Oman Tennis Association (OTA).

OTA General Secretary Siddiq spoke about the preparations in a telephonic chat with Oman Daily Observer.

“We will be training at the Mouratoglou Tennis Academy and we will be focusing on tactics, especially the doubles,’’ he added.

“The aim of the camp will be to get the team together and develop their game before the tournament starts on the 29th,’’ Siddiq said.

The draw for the tournament will be held on January 28th.

The team will undergo training at Mouratoglou Tennis Academy, one of the best academies in France.

OTA had sent Abdullah al Barwani to the same academy a year ago and he is still training there.

Mohammed al Nabhani, who is working in Paris and training there for the last three months, will join the team in Nice, the OTA said.

Brothers Younis and Muneer al Rawahi have been training and are involved in competition for the last six months. The OTA is hoping that Oman team will be promoted to Group III in Asia/Oceania Davis Cup.
