MUSCAT: Oman Data Park (ODP) is the first managed service provider in Oman with a vision to transform the future, where IT services will be available on demand. The first localised cloud service provider in the Sultanate, ODP currently runs three data centres located in KOM, Wattayah and Duqm. These three are interconnected to provide resilience, interconnectivity of data and business continuity. ODP held a roadshow in Salalah showcasing the latest cloud, security, AI and other IT services.
Security services, disaster recovery and the new artificial intelligence applications were the key topics that was covered at the roadshow held at the Millennium Resort on September 30. At the event, participants got to witness cutting edge technology that can empower to increase productivity and accomplish work quickly and easily.
Said al Jahwari, Business Development Manager, made a presentation on the ODP services, while Said al Fadhel, IT Manager at Raysut Cement, presented a case study, on how they utilised ODP disaster recovery services during the last cyclone, and how it ensured the continuity of their services during the disaster phase.
The other presenters were, Maitham al Lawati, General Manager, Risk and Compliance, who spoke on ODP managed security services and artificial intelligence services, Amjad Khalil, Cloud Account Manager, presented ODP cloud services, Oman Data Park Partners Veeam and Bravo Solution/Jaggaer presented their latest technology, Nicholai Georgiou spoke about ERP/SAP B1 provided by ODP.
Amjad Khalil stated that the IaaS spending in 2014 worldwide was $236B.
Graham Porter from Veeam said 72 per cent of the enterprises admit that digital transformation initiatives are being hindered by unplanned downtime or inadequate availability of applications. Veeam Cloud Connect makes it easy for Veeam customers to extend their infrastructure availability of cloud by sending their virtual and physical backups and VM replicas to a Veeam Cloud and Service Provider (VCSP), or to their own infrastructure.
Representatives from different sectors attended the event. Dell EMC, Veeam and Bravosolutions were the event partners.
ODP currently serves around 450 corporates ranging diverse industries from the large to mid and small segments. They include the major banks and the large oil and gas companies in the country. ODP also serves some of the leading companies in outside the Sultanate as well.
ODP’s new data centre in Duqm is providing a diverse set of services such as ICT colocation, IT-managed services, cloud services and disaster recovery services. Along with the Duqm data centre, the company has also launched the version 2 of its cloud services, which are more enhanced cloud services with advanced features.
