Oman crude oil price rises 22 per cent till April 2018

MUSCAT, MAY 26 - The average price of the Oman crude oil rose by 22 per cent to $62.9 till the end of April 2018, compared with $51.6 at the end of April 2017, according to the statistics issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI). The statistics showed that the total exports of the Sultanate’s crude oil and its condensates till the end of April 2018 stood at 98,540,200 barrels, comprising a rise by 1.1 per cent when compared with the end of April 2017, which stood at 97,499,900 barrels. The Sultanate’s production of crude oil and condensates till the end of April 2018 stood at 116,065,000 barrels, of which 103,268,900 barrels of crude oil and 12,796,100 barrels of condensates.


China topped the list of the Sultanate’s crude oil importers where the exports stood at 77,230,700 barrels, followed by India with 15,247,800 barrels and Japan with 3,643,200 barrels.


The total domestic production and imports of the natural gas stood at 14.295 billion cubic metres at the end of April 2018, comprising an incline by 5.6 per cent compared with the end of April 2017, which stood at 13.533 billion cubic metres.


The statistics showed that the industrial projects acquired 59.3 per cent of the total usage of natural gas in the Sultanate till the end of April 2018 as the usages stood at 8.478 billion cubic metres.


The total use of natural gas in the industrial estates in the Sultanate declined by 43.8 per cent till the end of April 2018 to stand at 134 million cubic metres, including Oman Mining Company, Oman Cement and Sultan Qaboos University (SQU).


Uses of the natural gas in the oilfields stood at 3.420 billion cubic metres, comprising a growth by 17.3 per cent compared to 2.915 billion cubic metres at the end of April 2017.


Uses of the natural gas in the oilfields varied where 1.057 billion cubic metres as a fuel, 1.372 billion cubic metres for well injection systems, 584 million cubic metres for fuels and 407 million cubic metres for other uses in the oilfields.


Uses of the power stations of the natural gas stood at 2.264 billion cubic metres to comprise a rise by 2.6 per cent. Non-associated natural gas production including imports stood at 11.700 billion cubic metres whereas the associated production of oil stood at 2.595 billion cubic metres.
