By Haridev Pushparaj — MUSCAT: Jan 25 - Oman coach Muhanna Said al Adawi was a happy man after the crushing win over Mali in the CISM World Cup quarterfinal and waxed eloquent about the team’s performance. “It was a top effort from the boys and I’m very pleased with the way things panned for our team. All departments worked very well and that was satisfying to see,’’ he said. The coach also revealed that being a high-scoring game he was also guiding the players from time to time. “I told the players to relax after scoring four goals and all the goals I must say were very well constructed,’’ Said added.

Talking about the road ahead and the semifinal, Said stated that it will be tough. “We will face a good team in the semifinal and they would have earned their place, so it will be a difficult match, whoever the opponent maybe,’’ he said. Said also spoke about the African teams and said Oman were acquainted with their playing style and skills. “We understand how they play and we should be able to deal with whatever comes our way,’’ Said added. The Oman coach mentioned that with quite a few national team players in the squad, his approach towards the other players has not changed.

“I deal with all players the same way, there is absolutely no difference. Whether it’s a Abdulaziz Muqbali or a junior player, I don’t change my way,’’ he added. Mali coach Brema Diallo was disappointed with the performance of his team. “We were totally outplayed by a much superior team. Oman is a great side, technically very good. They will go a long way in the competition and I wish them the best for the semifinal,’’ Diallo added.
