Oman, China relations hailed

Muscat: Members of State Council, Majlis Ash’shura and the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) held talks on Wednesday in Muscat.


The meetings were held as part the current visit of the Chinese parliamentary delegation to the Sultanate to mark the 40th anniversary of establishing the diplomatic relations. Chen Xiaoguang, CPPCC Vice-Chairperson, also held separate meetings with Yahya bin Mahfoudh al Mantheri, Chairman of State Council and Shaikh Khalid bin Hilal al Maawali, Chairman of Majlis Ash’shura. The sessions explored means of enhancing the bilateral relations between the Sultanate and China in various fields that would deepen the cultural, parliamentary and economic exchange between the two friendly countries.

The Chairman of Shura commended the exceptional relations between the Sultanate and China particularly in political, parliamentary and economic fields. He affirmed the Sultanate’s sincere keenness in promoting parliamentary cooperation between the councils of the two countries.


Xiaoguang expressed his delight to visit the Sultanate. Al Maawali gave a briefing to the guest and his accompanying delegation about Majlis Ash’shura, its legislative and oversight powers. During their visit to Shura, the guest and his accompanying delegation toured Council of Oman Hall and Shura Hall.


The State Council Chairman said the Omani-Chinese relations are deeply rooted in history. The meeting also reviewed ways to develop cooperation between the Sultanate and the Republic of China in parliamentary fields. Xiaoguang, thanked the Council Chairman for the warm welcome and hospitality.
