Oman Chess Committee concludes training course for chess coaches

MUSCAT, May 5 - Oman Chess Committee recently concluded a basic training course for chess coaches at Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex. Laila al Najjar, Vice-Chairman of Oman Schools Sport Association, was the chief guest in presence of Ahmed bin Darwish al Balushi, Chairman of Oman Chess Committee, Azza al Habsi, member and secretary of committee, Basheer al Qudaimi, Oman national team coach, and Musalam al Wadhahi, member of committee. The training course was organised by Oman Chess Committee, in cooperation with Asian and International Chess Federation. As many as 24 coaches took part in the course of chess coaches which was held from April 29 to May 2.


“This training course is very essential as we are developing chess to be spread over the Sultanate. Also, we are working to have many Omani coaches in different governorates to operate different tournaments in the Sultanate,” Ahmed al Balushi, Chairman of Oman Chess Committee, said. “The training sessions are considered as important tools to develop the skills of chess coaches. We are keen to see new centres of chess in different schools and clubs by our new coaches. Also, coaches can produce some talented players by having continues training in these centres,” Laila al Najjar, Chairman of Oman Schools Sport Association, said. “Oman Schools Sport Association is ready to support the chess committee as it is one of main sports focused by schools sport association,” Al Najjar added.
