Oman Centre for Arabic Language and Culture opens in Belarus

MINSK: The opening ceremony of the Oman Centre for Arabic Language and Culture was held on Thursday at the Faculty of International Relations of the Belarusian State University in Minsk.


The Centre was inaugurated by Ambassador Dr Mohammed bin Awad al Hassan, Acting Under-Secretary of the Ministry for Diplomatic Affairs, in the presence of Yousef bin Issa al Zadjali, Sultanate’s Ambassador to Russia and non-resident envoy in the Republic of Belarus.


The Belarusian side was represented at the opening ceremony by Andrei Dapkiunas, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, First Vice-President of the Belarusian State University and Dean of the Faculty of International Relations of the University.


The establishment of the Oman Centre for Arabic Language and Culture in Minsk comes with the support of the Sultanate and within the context of enhancing cultural relations between the two friendly countries.


The Centre aims to teach Arabic to non-native speakers and to disseminate the Arab culture in addition to conducting studies, research, conferences and other scientific events.


The Belarusian State University is one of the oldest universities in Belarus. It was founded in 1921. The university has more than 30,000 students and is attended by foreign students from 150 countries. — ONA
