OMA conference and Oman Health Exhibition 2018 open

Muscat: Oman Medical Association (OMA) Conference and Oman Health Exhibition 2018 commenced today at the Oman Convention & Exhibition Center.


The three-day Conference, which is organized by the OMA is held under the patronage of Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed al Saidi, Minister of Health, in the presence of a number of senior officials of health services in the public and private sectors along with ambassadors of some brotherly and friendly countries.


The opening ceremony included a welcome speech delivered by Dr Waleed al Zadjali, President of OMA where he highlighted that the medical and health professions face unlimited challenges and need the support of all authorities.


What concerns the health services maintainers is how to create a healthy and appropriate environment with the use of modern technologies and devices with a balanced budget that is compatible with the state budget.


Truly, the countries' incomes vary; however, if incomes and resources are well managed, qualified, and trained, they could be pioneer in the health services.


Recently, health insurance has become an irreversible reality and a solution that supports health services budgets.


Dr Al Zadjali added:” Medical errors and legal consequences are the other thing that concern and hinder all health services worldwide.


Therefore, health institutions and their sponsors must establish a mechanism to reduce these medical errors and create a safe working environment for the medical staff in these health institutions.


Consequently, all health workers should follow the approved medical standards and protocols”.


On the importance of the event, Prof Taha al Lawati, Head of the conference scientific committee stressed that the exhibition allows companies to display their best of sophisticated medical equipment in order to enable the medical personnel access what is new in the field of their areas of specialization.


While the conference allows for workers in the areas of health specialties to exchange experiences with foreign experts, who came from many International and regional countries.


The conference, that includes around (400) participants and (50) regional and international speakers, highlights the latest developments in the health sector such as general medicine, pediatric, surgery and other specializations.


The Conference also includes additional workshops on risk management and patient safety, medical ethics, medical errors and legal consequences, internal medicine, respiratory diseases, advance methods for the communicable diseases, as well as medical quality management.


The Conference reviews the plans of the Ministry of Health and OMA in promoting the health sector in the Sultanate and the latest developments in medical fields locally and internationally. It will also overview the health projects of the Ministry of Health that improve the health services, in addition to providing the latest modern research and technologies that contribute to develop the health system in the Sultanate.


The Minister of Health toured the 2018 Oman Health Exhibition, which is part of the Conference. A number of international institutions specialized in producing and marketing medical supplies along with health institutions and number of international hospitals are participating in the Exhibition.


The companies participating in the Exhibition are around (180) from (18) countries around the world including India, Iran, United Arab Emirates, France, Germany, Thailand and others. --ONA
